Weekly Report #21

Started the week with sick kids and ended the week with a sick Mommy!(Figures- just as I felt we were back to normal from our break!) We made the most of it. LOTS of reading time= more snuggle time- documentaries and talking :)

Finished reading aloud from "Among the Imposters" Ch #22-36 - The kids are still very intrigued with the series and excited to pick up the next but we are going to take a break (Not to their liking) from them to continue on with our planned reading that goes along with our history studies.
Began reading "The Melodian" (Thanks Fred for letting us borrow it!)
Lots and lots of silent reading time!

We had a very productive week! Finally back in the swing of things I think! No playdates this week, none worked out due to conflicting schedules- but it did give us more time for fun art projects! All in all a very good week :)

"Colored Glass" project (melting crayons, cutting them in shapes of blown glass balls- We were all very interested to learn about the Phoenicians beginning this beautiful art! We have been to watch glass blowers many times and own a few pieces ourselves- we had no idea it had such a historic beginning!)









Listened to Bach throughout the week
Listened to our new compilation CD that has a variety of great composers- (Vivaldi, Bach, Mozart, etc.)

(Not wordless afterall- DS insisted that I let everyone know that HE does NOT love the Ducks- and the only reason he was wearing that jersey was because he was too young to have a brain of his own!!)

Weekly Report #19

I can't believe the P.S. kids were still out of school on Monday!?! I was looking forward to a fresh start this week but was thrown off by the knocks and calls on Monday morning. The kids have a hard time focusing when they know their friends are out front playing :( Busy week for us with lots of things going on, trying to stay on task was very difficult and I am sure that is to be the norm around here for a while. Trying to get the kids back in to the swing of things--- SO HARD! I am ready to get back to our regular schedule and they are fighting me the whole way. I curse the public school breaks!!!!! I decided to hold off on starting our Latin studies this week... hopefully next week....

I had hoped to school through the entire week- but having all the neighbor kids knocking on the door and calling constantly did not make it an easy task so I gave up on that goal by mid week! We had a fun week, though not nearly as educational as I would have liked!
